ASCAP Announces Winners of Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer Award

The ASCAP Foundation announced the winners of the 2022 Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer Awards. Now in its 10th year, the award recognizes jazz composers under the age of 30. The recipients, chosen after a competition with a jury, receive a cash prize of varying amounts. Additionally, one recipient will be featured at the Newport Jazz Festival this summer. The judges for this competition were Chuck Owen, Fabian Almazan and Camille Thurman. Past winners are Matthew Whitaker, Giveton Gelin and Dave Meder.
