Despite the announcement of an eighteen-month concert hiatus at the end of his summer “Divide” tour, Ed Sheeran made a surprise return to the stage alongside Japanese group ONE OK ROCK at their concert in Tokyo. earlier this week.
The group backed Sheeran on a number of Asian dates on the ‘Divide’ tour, and the British megastar returned the favor at Yokohoma Arena.
According to Billboard, Taka, the frontman of ONE OK ROCK, brought Sheeran on stage, who then played guitar on the band’s track “Wherever You Are”.
They went on to collaborate on a Sheeran hit, taking the 2017 hit “Shape Of You” before Sheeran left the stage.
This isn’t the only time Sheeran has broken his self-imposed hiatus. In September, he appeared on stage at Khalid’s O2 Arena show to sing his couple’s collaborative verse “Beautiful People.”
Meanwhile, Sheeran manager Stuart Camp said the singer, “who has been named Britain’s richest celebrity under 30, is aware of ‘excess’.
âI never want anyone to miss him. But I guess if he’s at the top of the charts, maybe they aren’t, âhe said.“You just want to make sure it’s a fair representation.
âWe are very conscious of not exaggerating. Weirdly, we’ve been doing this for 10 years where we’ve been really overkill, but no one seems to be fed up with it.
He added: “We are very aware of too much of Ed Sheeran.”
