Shoji Meguro, better known as the composer of Character and Shin megami tensei series, officially revealed its independent stealth RPG Fire arms. It is planned to be released on PC (via Steam). According to the Steam store page, the game will support English and Japanese.
Meguro recently left Atlus to focus on his game creation business, while continuing to provide music for future Atlus titles as a freelance writer (related article). He has been working on this Unreal Engine 4 project for five years, under the pseudonym of Megarock.
Now that he has left Atlus, Meguro will be working full time as an independent developer. Although he is best known for his work as a songwriter, he served as a game director on the PSP remake of Shin Megami Tensei: Persona, Persona 2: innocent sin, and Persona 2: Eternal Punishment during his tenure with Atlus.
Fire arms is a stealth RPG set in 2045, after a nuclear war devastates the world. You will play as a member of a PMC (Private Military Company) and perform missions with your peers.
The game is divided into stealth and battle parts. In the first part, you will move around the terrain while trying not to be detected. Encountering an enemy without being detected will allow you to start the battle in a favorable way. Encounters will take place in a turn-based command combat format, where the protagonists will use a variety of guns to take on enemies.
Most of the development is handled by Shoji Meguro, and “song lyrics are written by Lotus Juice, also from the ‘Persona’ series.” A promising Russian illustrator Ilya Kuvshinov, known for his work on Ghost in the shell: SAC_2045, will manage the characters.
Fire arms will present a linear story with no branching paths, and “In the midst of fierce battles, the protagonists realize the ‘true love’ that will lead humanity to a higher level of existence.”
Fire arms can be found here on Steam.
