Khatija Rahman, daughter of famous Indian composer AR Rahman, has announced her engagement.

“With the blessing of the Almighty, I am happy to announce all of my engagement to Riyasdeen Shaik Mohamed @riyasdeenriyan, a budding entrepreneur and wizkid sound engineer. The engagement took place on December 29, my birthday in the presence of my close family and loved ones, ”Khatija wrote on Instagram on January 2.

Her fiance Mohamed wrote in the comments section: “Thankful to have you in my life. Alhamdulilah.

Mohamed also shared the news on his Instagram account. His profile biography mentions that he is the “live sound engineer” for Oscar winner Rahman and acclaimed music director and singer Amit Trivedi.

Khatija, 25, is also a musician and released the songs “Farishton” and “Rock a Bye Baby” from the Netflix movie “Mimi”, both composed by her father. She even performed “Farishton” alongside the all-female orchestra Firdaus at Expo 2020 Dubai in November 2021.

In a 2020 interview with Gulf News, Khatija opened up about her famous father and his impact on his career.

“I definitely owe it to him… but after that it will be my hard work,” she said. “Just with my last name, nothing can be done. At the most, it can give a certain placement or facilitate at the start, but afterwards it is only my work that will speak for itself. And, that’s what I really believe. But I’m still grateful to him.

Besides Khatija, Rahman and his wife Saira Banu are also the parents of their daughter Raheema and their son Ameen.
